Posner City Center at the U.S. 27-Interstate 4 interchange could be getting another 281,300 square feet of dining and retail.

Intram Investments has filed a preliminary plan for 30 acres of undeveloped property in the mixed use community, and is scheduled to meet with Polk County planners on May 12.

The new shopping center would be called Posner Village, and would be split between 201,300 square feet of big box retail and eight one-acre out-parcels, with up to 10,000 square feet per lot.

Posner City Center is already home to multiple retailers, including Dick's Sporting Goods, Super Target, J.C. Penny, Best Buy and Cinepolis IMAX theater.

Victor Posner City Center, also known as Posner Park, is a 366-acre mixed-use development that is home to the Posner Commons shopping center and Cinepolis IMAX theater.

The property owner is in the process of rescinding the DRI, but the project is entitled for another 565,000 square feet of commerical space, as well as 1,991 residential units, 2,600 hotel rooms and 1.4 million square feet of offices.

Officials with Intram declined to comment on Tuesday.

Paul Senft, a retired Polk commissioner who consults for the county, told GrowthSpotter the opening of the Poinciana Parkway last weekend will bring thousands of shoppers from Osceola County to Posner. That makes the retail parcels even more attractive for Intram.

“They would not be going through all of this if they did not already have some restaurants and big box prospects already lined up,” he said.

Posner Park is home to a handful of restaurants — including a Twistee Treat location near the main entrance that is owned by Intram.

Intram bought the rights to Twistee Treat in 2010 and intends to expand nationally, opening 1,000 locations in the iconic ice cream cone-shaped buildings.
