A prominent Orlando personal injury attorney and his wife paid $1.819 million on Jan. 31 for a new Winter Park home for their growing family, days after parting with a lakefront site where they had planned a custom build.

The buyers were Matt Morgan of Morgan & Morgan and Kassidy Morgan, who married in 2013 and welcomed their second son to the family in late 2016.

Located on Woodmere Drive in the heart of Winter Park’s The Vias neighborhood, between Lake Maitland and Lake Knowles, the 0.38-acre property features a 4,470-square-foot home with five beds and 5.5 baths.

Highlights of the home include a theater room with up to five televisions, an oversized and covered lanai that opens to an expansive fenced yard, saltwater pool and travertine stone pavers, a summer kitchen and outdoor bath.

The Morgans had been living nearby in Winter Park, but were planning to build a 7,000-square-foot lakefront home on 0.67 acres along Venetian Way facing Lake Maitland, for which they paid $1.5 million in April 2016.

As those plans progressed the couple became wary of trying to squeeze so much home onto a limited lot, and having two young boys playing so close to the water, Matt Morgan told GrowthSpotter.

“So a variety of factors brought that project to a halt. We then had an immediate need to move due to our growing family, started looking and found the home we ultimately ended up purchasing,” he said. “The detailed molding in this home is beautiful, as was its overall layout and the backyard. The extra space will be good for the boys as they grow.”

The sellers were David L. and Pamela S. Reiman, who previously paid $1.535 million for the home in October 2003.

The Morgans sold their undeveloped lot on Jan. 27 to luxury custom home builder Charles Clayton Construction for $1.56 million.

They now have their older 3,000-square-foot home near Woodmere Drive that will be listed for sale later this month with Pamela Ryan of Kelly Price & Company, likely at $1.35 million, Morgan said.

The Woodmere Drive home was listed by John Pinel and Mick Night of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Winter Park, who also procured the buyer.
