Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, a one-time rookie sensation and Heisman Trophy winner, will be moving into a palatial 10-bedroom estate in Reunion Resort.
The 2012 first round pick of the Washington Redskins paid $2.85 million this week for a 13,000-square-foot mansion in the 1200 block of Grand Traverse Parkway.
Top Villas Realty founder Penny Stokes-Hilton had just listed the property in October for $3 million when she got a call from Griffin and his fiance, former FSU track star Grete Sadeiko.
“His fiance found the property online,” Stokes-Hilton told GrowthSpotter. “That was the only one they wanted to see, and they made an offer right away. It is a pretty spectacular home.”
Griffin brought the home under contract within 14 days of its listing, and purchased it fully furnished, she added.
The house sits on a double lot with conservation view, just steps from one of the resort’s three championship golf courses. Built in 2015 by William Stone Premier Properties, the contemporary custom home is designed for entertaining.
Stokes-Hilton said the listing generated enormous interest from international buyers, and there were multiple offers. “My phone was blowing up,” she said.
The expansive backyard features a covered lanai deep enough to seat 20, with a summer kitchen and pizza oven, overlooking a 50×30-foot infinity pool and spa.
The enormous kitchen has two large islands and is open to the dining and living room, and features laundry rooms on the first and second floors.
The bedrooms are all over-sized and have their own en-suite bathrooms. There’s also a gym, sauna, steam room, arcade, poker room, and theater room with tiered seating for 12.
The game room — decked out with pool, air hockey and foosball tables, sports-themed murals, gaming consoles and eight smart TVs — likely sealed the deal for the couple.
The home was being marketed as a luxury vacation rental by the previous owner at a $1,620 nightly rate, but will be taken off the market to serve as Griffin and Sadeiko’s private residence, Stokes-Hilton said.
Griffin has been out of professional football since the end of the 2016 season following a four-year, injury-plagued career. As the second pick of the 2012 draft, he earned a $13.8 million signing bonus plus more than $7 million in salary from the Redskins. He signed a two-year, $15 million contract ($6.7 million guaranteed) with the Cleveland Browns in 2016, but was cut after one season.
Griffin proposed to Sadeiko after she graduated from FSU in May, and the two welcomed a baby girl this summer. Griffin also has a daughter with ex-wife Rebecca Liddicoat-Griffin, who was his college sweetheart at Baylor University.
The sellers were John, Patricia and Danielle Porter, all of Manchester, England. They operated the vacation home under the name “The White House at Reunion.”
