D.R. Horton is prepping for its next phase of an active subdivision in Winter Haven and getting ready to launch a new community in Mount Dora.

D.R. Horton paid $1.7 million last month for Phase 2 of Country Walk at Winter Haven, a 78-home community that opened for sales in 2019. The takedown consisted of 36 lots. The homebuilder previously paid about $1.78 million for Phase 1.

Country Walk is located on Country Club Road, just south of Lake Hamilton. D.R. Horton currently offers five floorplans in the community featuring single- and two-story options, with prices starting at $218,990.

D.R. Horton is planning to build 376 homes in Timberwalk, a new community on Round Lake Road in Mount Dora.

Meanwhile, the builder is scheduled to go to Mount Dora’s Development Review Committee later this month seeking Final Construction Plan approval for Timberwalk, a proposed 376-home subdivision on Round Lake Road between Wolf Branch Road and S.R. 46.

The community would be developed in two phases and would have three lot sizes. The plans call for 247 55-foot wide lots, 72 60-foot lots and 57 of the 70-foot lots. The plans also include various amenities: a pool and cabana, two playgrounds and a pair of dry retention areas that function as multi-purpose fields.

Sanford-based KBD Development is the current owner of the 170.6 aces. Booth, Ern, Straughan and Hiott (BESH) is the contracted engineer, planner and surveyor.

Timberwalk would abut the northern boundary of the Wolf Branch Innovation District, a 1,300-acre mixed-use district designed to bring high-paying tech jobs and new housing to the region. The neighborhood is adjacent to the Employment Center West 1 phase, which is entitled for 786 dwelling units.

In late 2018, Lake County was granted $2.5 million from the governor’s office to fund the widening and extension of Round Lake Road just past State Road 44. The roadway, which crosses a portion of the district, will be widened from two lanes to four lanes between Meadow land Drive in Orange County and Wolf Branch Road in Lake County.
