Lincoln, Nebraska-based Resort Lifestyle Communities (RLC) is planning a 130-unit senior living community in Sanford.
The retirement community, called Seminole Springs, would be the company’s first project in Central Florida.
Recently submitted plans in the St. Johns River Water Management District show Seminole Springs will be a three-story, 66,342-square-foot retirement community at 5642 W. State Road 46.
Common amenities in RLC projects include health and wellness programs, 24/7 medical alert system and concierge service, gourmet chefs, housekeepers and maintenance staff.
Buildings often feature a 150-seat theater, computer center, salon/barber shop and a fitness center.
Kelly Jo Hinrichs, vice president of marketing with RLC, told GrowthSpotter the project will provide up to 40 jobs in the community.
She adds the company intends to host a ground breaking event soon, but it depends on when cases of the coronavirus dissipate and localities deem gatherings safe again.
The vacant development site lies about 3.5 miles west of I-4 on State Road 46.
Cameron General Contractors (CGC), the development arm of RLC, will handle construction services. Once communities are completed, RLC takes over day-to-day operations, management and marketing of the communities.
Property records show Seminole Springs Retirement Community LLC, which is led by RLC founder and CEO Breck Collingsworth, paid a little more than $4.1 million for the 7.5-acre development site in October.
Just recently, the company entered the permitting phase of the project.
According to the permit application RLC is seeking to develop a new stormwater management system to service both the planned senior living facility and an adjacent 9,400-square-foot commercial building, completed in 2010.
Justin Thompson with Bowman Consulting Group is the consultant on the project.
RLC, founded in the mid-1990’s, builds and manages resort-style retirement communities throughout the nation. In Florida, the company oversees five developments that are located in Tallahassee, Brevard County and along Florida’s western coast.
Seminole Springs would be its sixth senior living retirement home community in Florida.
East of I-4, Rising Star Properties is planning to build a 146-unit senior living community called Heritage Club. The proposed 104,000-square-foot facility will be located on the southeast corner of Aero Lane and State Road 46.
