WLIT-FM midday host Brooke Hunter has become a first-time homebuyer, paying $650,000 for a midcentury, ranch-style house in east Glenview.
Hunter has been on Chicago airwaves for more than two decades. Before joining WLIT in 2013, she had been heard on WCFS-FM, WKQX-FM and WZZN-FM.
"I bought it because it was time to make that ultimate investment ... a home," Hunter told Elite Street. "I was tired of renting, and I knew this was where we were going to stay. I had always rented and I knew what a waste of money it is to rent."
Built in 1960, Hunter's new house had been listed for $695,000 and then reduced to $675,000. Features include a sunken living room with a fireplace, hardwood floors and a private courtyard.
Hunter said she previously had been renting in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood.
