Crate & Barrel president buys house in Evanston

Crate & Barrel's recently hired president, Steve Woodward, and his wife, Terri, on March 4 paid $1.437 million for a four-bedroom, contemporary-style house in Evanston.

Woodward was hired last year as the No. 2 executive at Crate & Barrel, where he serves as president and chief merchant. He has moved to the area from Texas, where he had served as a senior vice president at accessories company Fossil.

Built last year by BKM Development, the southern-facing house is part of a development of three modern single-family homes. Features include 4-1/2 baths, two fireplaces, hardwood floors, custom glass facades, and ipe wood details.

"The Woodwards did a lot of the design work themselves," said Debra Weinberg of @properties, who represented the couple.
