Illinois Tool Works CEO E. Scott Santi and his wife, Nancy, on Jan. 22 sold their five-bedroom vintage house on Sheridan Road in Wilmette for $1.825 million.
Scott Santi became the CEO of Glenview-based Illinois Tool Works in late 2012 and earned $14.2 million last year, according to the firm's proxy statement. Last year, Santi and his wife paid $6.1 million for a four-bedroom, 6,350-square-foot vintage mansion on Lake Michigan in Winnetka.
Now, the Santis have taken a loss on the Wilmette home, which they purchased in 2011 for $1.8875 million.
Built in 1927, the three-story, French Provincial-style house they sold has 4-1/2 baths, three fireplaces, high ceilings, two master suites, a media room, an exercise room, updated baths, a new second-floor laundry and a kitchen that was just updated last year. The 0.3-acre property is gated with a secluded backyard.
The couple had asked $1.995 million for the house.
The buyers are a venture capitalist and his wife.
Paige Dooley of The Hudson Company, who represented the Santis in the sale, did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
