Chicago Bear Matt Forte sells Mettawa mansion for $1.5 million

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte and his wife, Danielle, have sold their five-bedroom, 6,062-square-foot mansion in north suburban Mettawa for $1.5 million.

The two-time Pro Bowl running back paid $4.025 million early this year through a trust for a five-bedroom, 9,000-square-foot mansion in River North. He then placed his French Provincial-style house in Mettawa on the market in February for just under $1.6 million.

Built in 2005 and situated on a private, gated and wooded 4.91-acre parcel, the brick and stucco mansion has 6-1/2 baths, four fireplaces, an open floor plan, a turret, Rosewood hardwood floors, millwork including boxed-beam ceilings, custom cabinets and built-ins, a master suite with a walk-in sitting area and a finished lower level with stone floors, a stone bar and a home theater. Outside on the property are a brick driveway, koi pond and four-car garage.

Through his Riverwoods Road Realty Trust, Forte paid $1.47 million for the Mettawa estate in late 2012.

In September 2014, Forte and his wife sold a four-bedroom, 7,796-square-foot Mediterranean-style house in Windermere, Fla., for $2.33 million. They purchased that house just nine months earlier for $2.25 million.

Forte's listing agent, Susan Coveny of Re/Max Prestige, did not respond to a request for comment.
