A three-bedroom, 2,400-square-foot condominium unit in River North that retired Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood once owned sold on May 27 for $1.095 million.
Wood, who now lives in Winnetka, bought the unit in Chicago's River North neighborhood in May 2003 for $712,000 and sold it in February 2005 for $760,000. Since then, it has changed hands several more times. Its most recent owner bought it in November for $775,000.
Located on the fifth floor of a building that was constructed in 2002, the unit has 2-1/2 baths and has been completely renovated with wide plank floors, a marble fireplace, two-tone custom cabinetry, high-end appliances and one fireplace.
After the renovation, the seller listed it in March for just under $1.15 million and found a buyer just a few weeks later.
"The unit commanded the price it did due to a creative rehab project," listing agent Ryan Preuett of Conlon told Elite Street. "The unique look looked like something you would find in a Restoration Hardware catalog. In today's condo market, buyers are responding really well to turnkey, high-end units."
