The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is seeking a Construction Management Consultant (CMC) to help oversee the work of contractors on future road and bridge projects, according to a Request for Letters of Interest published this week.

The new CMC would assist staff by providing insight, management and independent analysis of the work done by construction engineering and inspection consultants that CFX hires for each of its projects.

The CMC will contribute directly to quality control on the construction of major roadway and bridge projects along S.R. 408, S.R. 417, S.R. 414, S.R. 429, S.R. 451, S.R. 528 and other associated facilities.

Details on why new bridges are needed at the highway intersection north of Orlando International Airport, and what this local agency wants in a contractor.

The CMC's responsibilities could include reviewing and updating CFX's construction contract administration procedure, monitoring the quality control measures practiced by engineers and inspectors, evaluating costs and reviewing estimates and invoices submitted by those contractors, and reviewing construction phasing on projects, among other tasks.

Consideration will be given only to firms that have been pre-qualified by the Florida Department of Transportation to perform the indicated types of work.

Letters of interest must detail a firm's technical experience, proposed staffing, project approach, current and projected workload, and more.

CFX's evaluation committee will short-list at least three firms, which is followed by a technical proposal and oral presentation.

Applications are due by Aug. 7 at 1:30 pm to Aneth Williams, CFX's procurement director.

Full details on contract no. 001327 can be found at CFX's Procurement Division webpage.
