The Cinemark movie theater inside the Artegon Marketplace at 5150 International Dr. is being renovated to make it more up-to-date and able to more comfortably present movies.
The $1 million remodeling will bring luxury seating and renovations to the 20-screen, 85,467-square-foot, one story building that was constructed around 1999.
The project is currently in the bidding phase for a general contractor and subcontractors, with the deadline July 15. Construction is planned to start in mid August.
The owner, Cinemark USA, is headquartered in Plano, TX, and had 497 theaters and 5,687 screens in the U.S. and Latin America as of March 31. Representatives from Cinemark did not respond to requests for comment.
TK Architects is the architect, structural engineer and MEP engineer.
The project's furnishings call for multiple fixed seating and roller window shades.
It also requires paving, landscaping, irrigation, stone/brick veneer, structural steel work, metal decking, metal fabrications, metal stairs, elevators and interior architectural woodwork.
