The Diocese of Orlando spent $2.736 million last week to line up property directly south of Bishop Moore Catholic High School for future expansion of the campus.

Located south of the school's entry point on Edgewater Drive, the Diocese acquired eight semi-contiguous parcels totaling 1.856 acres that include six single-family home sites, and the main part of Blodgett Gardens & Nursery.

The sale closed on May 15, and was recorded Tuesday in Orange County.

Details on the location, its future sale and redevelopment potential, and comparable land prices in the immediate area.

The new property could give the school another entry in the future off of small Rockmont Court. The assemblage south of the campus may also precede an anticipated Master Plan for expansion of the school's footprint, either for added parking and vehicle access, or new ancillary office space for visitors and prospective students.

No plans have been filed yet with the city of Orlando for redevelopment of the property. Officials with the Diocese did not respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.

At least four more properties bordering Rockmont Court are still independently owned, and would have to be acquired by the Diocese for it to try and absorb that small roadway.

Bishop Moore is the largest private Catholic school in Orlando.

The seller of all eight properties was Michael P. Francisco, both individually and as successor trustee to the Frances B. Francesco Revocable Trust.
