Site work is underway for a new Veterans Administration Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) across from Florida Hospital Waterman in Lake County.

When the clinic, being built in front of a Best Western, opens to patients in 2016, it will replace the Veteran's Clinic in Leesburg at 711 W Main St., 10 miles west of the new clinic, a Veterans Administration spokeswoman said.

In the meantime, the Leesburg CBOC will continue to provide services throughout the construction period, including primary care, mental health and access to a variety of specialty care and education through Telehealth. The same services will be offered at the new Tavares site, she said.

The new clinic, at 1390 E. Burleigh Blvd., will have 9,995 square feet and 90 parking spaces.  It will be leased by the land owners Five Cranes LLC of Eustis.

Construction is scheduled to be finished by fall of 2015, the VA said. Patients will be seen in 2016, after the building is furnished and equipped.
