National general contractor Wieland Corporation is moving its Orlando-area office to Lake Nona, more than doubling its square footage with plans to add staff this year.

Located at 6900 Tavistock Lakes Blvd., the four-story, 85,000-square-foot office building in Lake Nona's Town Center Phase 1 is now fully leased for its office space, with tenants that include a Nemours Children's Hospital administrative office, Regus, Nurse on Call and owner Tavistock Development Company's main office. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine is building out restaurant space on the ground floor for an opening later this year.

With 2,646 rentable square feet, Wieland will be the only general contractor based in Lake Nona. Local executives were drawn to its proximity to Orlando International Airport, allowing for quick pickup of visiting clients and corporate leaders.

"When we identified this building as having the perfect sized space with airport and Greenway (S.R. 417) convenience, we also considered Tavistock as our landlord and neighbor in the same building," said Andy Yarber, vice president and regional director for Wieland. "Our office is walkable to new restaurants, an attractive courtyard and the (200-room, dual-branded) Marriott. Frankly, the decision was easy."

The company is currently building out the new space with about $250,000 in investment. Wieland estimates it will finish the work and open the office in May.

Wieland had been an executive suite leasee in the 1420 LaRosa Building in Celebration for 10 years. But staff outgrew the space, and had been primarily working in project offices at the Grand Cypress Resort for much of the past three years.

Little Diversified Architectural Consulting was hired by Wieland to design the new office, due in part to its past role in designing the tenant improvements for Tavistock's space.

Wieland currently has 20 staff in its Orlando office, but is currently hiring for new project managers, assistant project managers, superintendents and a pre-construction manager.
