Boca Raton-based Bluegreen Corporation wants to expand its planned ninth timeshare tower by three floors at its expansive The Fountains resort on S. International Drive, filing a change determination request on Thursday with Orange County.

Located at 12400 South I-Drive southwest of Lake Eve, the 40-plus acre resort currently has 745 rooms across eight timeshare buildings, including the 14-story Lake Eve Resort building directly east which Bluegreen has slowly integrated with the The Fountains in recent years, resort staff confirmed on Thursday.

The new Building no. 9, to be built on open space directly west of the resort's central swimming pool, was previously approved for 91 units across seven stories, which the company now wants to increase to 97 units across 10 stories. The CDR request was made by land owner and corporate affiliate Bluegreen Vacations Unlimited Inc.

The request would put the building at 109 feet tall, above the maximum allowable height of 100 feet in the Lake Eve PD.

Officials with Bluegreen did not respond to requests for comment Thursday on a projected timeline of development for Building 9.

Civil engineer on the project is Kimley-Horn, and Fugleberg Koch is the architect.
