The Orlando World Center Marriottis upping its game and giving its grand ballroom a full renovation.

The Orlando World Center Marriott is preparing to embark on a major project to revitalize its grand ballroom and pre-function area.

The $4.5 million renovation will begin in July and last throughout the summer with completion planned for October.

The 37,500-square-foot ballroom, site of many meetings and weddings, will be completely redone, as will the prefunction area and a restroom, taking up another 47,300 square feet. An 8,400 spa building will also be renovated.

In its entirety, the project involves demolition, remodeling and renovation for the targeted spaces.

"Being the quality going into into the project and its scope, it should be gorgeous, said  Rainiero Duran, who is overseeing the project for general contractor T & G Constructors of Orlando.

Bids for the project are being taken until June 15. Professionals in drywall, paint, tile, carpet, plumbing, electrical and HVAC are being sought.

The Marriott, at 8701 World Center Dr., near Disney World, boasts on its website elegant and top quality treatment at its grand ballroom, saying it is the perfect fit for any gathering.

Jim Marthinsen, vice president for capital expenditures at Host Hotels & Resorts, which owns Orlando World Center Marriott, declined to comment.
