Spokeswoman Karlee Kunkle told GrowthSpotter the Lake Nona master developer has applied to the Federal Aviation Administration for clearance to add a 17th floor to the hotel, which will be named Lake Nona Wave Hotel.
Balfour Beatty Construction kicked off site development for the hotel in August and will be setting up a crane in the coming days, Kunkle said.
The company will file updated plans with the City of Orlando on Tuesday for the added height, which allows for an increased room count from 231 to 239 – including 17 suites.
The Lake Nona Wave Hotel also will have 5,359 square feet of meeting space that includes a 3,200-square-foot ballroom accommodating 200 guests. Amenities will include a rooftop pool with a restaurant and bar.
