Tavistock adding Marriott flag to Lake Nona market

Tavistock Development Company revised the development plan for its Creekside Hotel, revealing it will be a Springhill Suites by Marriott.

Tavistock Development Company has expanded and revealed the name of the hotel planned for its Publix-anchored Lake Nona Creekside shopping center on Boggy Creek Road just south of Orlando International Airport.

The Lake Nona master developer amended its Orange County Development Plan on Monday, expanding the hotel room count from 120 to 156. The plans also identify the now 6-story hotel as Marriott select-service SpringHill Suites. Tavistock has dedicated an entire 1-acre outparcel for surface parking lot to accommodate the larger hotel.

This is the second phase of Creekside. The 61,000-square-foot retail center broke ground in early 2018, with the new 46,000-square-foot Publix opening that fall. The project still has three undeveloped lots, all roughly 1 acre in size.

Lake Nona Creekside opened in the fall with a new Publix-anchored shopping center, shown in green. Now the developer is planning to build a 6-story hotel on Lot 2 with parking on Lot 4 (highlighted).

Atlanta-based HC Architecture designed the all-suites hotel. Donald W. McIntosh Associates, Inc., is civil engineer on the project, planning and environmental services came via AECOMBroad and Cassel's Craig Langley provided legal services, and Verlander is the landscape architect.

Groundbreaking is scheduled to start in the fall, with the opening anticipated in late 2020. Tavistock will retain ownership and develop the property, spokeswoman Jessi Blakley previously told GrowthSpotter. The Springhill Suites is one of four new hotels the company has in the Lake Nona pipeline this year.

While Creekside is just south of the Central Florida Greeneway (S.R. 417), Tavistock is also developing a new hotel in partnership with Reich Properties just north of the same interchange.

Tavistock Hotels also has two projects in development:

  • The 16-story, 215-room Tavistock Town Center Hotel will anchor the next phase of the Lake Nona Town Center, and is scheduled to open by late 2020.
  • The eight-story Tavistock Lake Nona Resort, with 250 hotel rooms and 80 condominiums that will surround an 11-acre Crystal Lagoon, opens in 2022.
