Lady Bird Academy, a fairly new preschool franchise, is quickly expanding in Central Florida.
Recently a build-to-suit building at 2400 E. S.R. 50 in Clermont was sold from the developer, Pointe Education Group, to a holding company, Clerlady LLC, for $3.8 million.
A local franchise partnership between Joel King and Miguel de Arcos rent the site and operate the Lady Bird Academy preschool, which opened on July 6. The location is close to South Lake Hospital.

The pair is opening another Lady Bird Academy preschool in Longwood at 470 E. Lake Brantley Dr. this fall.

"What took us to these areas is the tremendous amount of growth,” said King.
Not all Lady Bird Academy preschools are owned by franchises. Some, like the one in Lake Mary, are company stores.
Pointe Education Group LLC is building the preschools around the state and then selling them to holding companies, which then lease the buildings to franchises. There are 12 now in Central Florida, according to the Lady Bird Academy website.
The company is planning to expand into Texas as well, said Alan Sakowitz, president and CEO of Pointe Development Co., which has been developing the land and building the centers.
