Hyundai of Central Florida LLLP spent $4.839 million for about 12 acres on the north side of S.R. 50 in Clermont for a new dealership at Plaza Collina.
Tracy Taylor, general sales manager for Mullinax Ford of Central Florida, will be president of the new Hyundai of Central Florida dealership, he told GrowthSpotter on Tuesday.
No contractors have been hired yet. Taylor said there are plans to put out bid requests for construction of a 37,000-square-foot dealership building that will house both sales and service soon. He hopes to start construction in June or July, with completion by the start of 2017.
The auto dealer bought 9+ acres at the new Plaza Collina development and plans to break ground in two weeks on a new Chevrolet dealership.

Clermont officials said they have talked conceptually about the Hyundai development with the new owners, but no site plans are in City Hall at this time.
Plaza Collina (Orlando) ASLI VI L.L.P.'s Avanti Properties Group II L.L.L.P. and Avanti Management Corp. sold the land, according to Lake County sale records.
Avanti representatives did not comment on the sale.
Don Mealey Chevrolet is also building a dealership on the Plaza Collina development site, which should open this June. It spent $3.3 million for a 9-acre parcel last September. That dealership's total price for its site and a 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art dealership complex will be about $12 million, the dealership said at the time.
S.R. 50 from the Florida Turnpike west has become the auto shopping strip for south Lake County as well as West Orange. Toyota, Nissan, Dodge, Ford, Chevy, and Honda dealerships are all represented in that neighborhood.
A year ago, Clermont annexed the 142-acre Plaza Collina parcel on the north side of S.R. 50 into the city, with the understanding that it would hold no more than two car dealerships without going back to the city to ask for more.
Plaza Collina has no connection to the Monteverde community of Bella Collina.
Other dealerships in the stretch have also been annexed into Clermont, including the Toyota dealership in March 2015. Headquarter Honda, Clermont Nissan and the current Don Mealey Chevrolet were all annexed in April 2015. Clermont Ford is also in the city limits, but Napleton Jeep remains in unincorporated Lake County.
