Seminole County seeks CMAR for year-long renovation of Lake Brantley High

Seminole County Public Schools is seeking a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for extensive renovation and remodeling at Lake Brantley High School, according to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) issued Sunday.

Located at 991 Sand Lake Road in Altamonte Springs, the school's scope of work will include building new classrooms to accommodate 965 student stations. Renovation of the existing buildings 3 and 4, built in 1988, encompass 30,232 square feet. The school's kitchen may be upgraded and funded separately as part of this project by Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) Dining Services department.

The project is expectedt to start in June 2018 and be completed by August 2019. The high school will be fully occupied during time of construction, which will require extra caution with phasing of the project.

The CMAR will be responsible for services through every phase of the project, which include: soliciting multiple bid packages to cover the scope of work and hire all subcontractors, coordinating with school personnel to move school activities to areas of campus not under construction, leading work on the aforementioned new classroom building, setting up temporary housing for the students, coordinating vehicle parking, site infrastructure development, replacement of the HVAC control system and more.

A non-mandatory pre-proposal conference will be held Oct. 18 at 2 p.m., at the SCPS Educational Support Center in Sanford. Final applications are due Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. to the SCPS Purchasing and Distribution Services Department.

An evaluation committee is expected to tally its short list of finalists by Nov. 15, with oral presentations to follow on Dec. 1 and an award recommendation made later that day.
