Surgeon & charity founder pays $5.3M to retire in Isleworth, seller downsizes nearby

A Sacramento-based surgeon and charity founder paid $5.268 million in late December to retire in Orlando's Isleworth community, while the seller has reinvested in a home nearly half the size just a few blocks away.

Located on Vardon Drive, the 1.68-acre lot faces the third green of the Isleworth Golf & Country Club, with a two-story home built in 2008 that boasts 11,340 square feet of conditioned area, five bedrooms and 6.5 baths.

Outdoor features include a multi-level swimming pool, grotto, rock waterfalls, expansive lanai, summer kitchen and grill, while inside the Old World-style design is highlighted in a two-story family room.

The buyers were Dr. James Sehr and Angela Sehr. James was an orthopaedic surgeon in Sacramento with Advance Infusion Center, and Angel a registered nurse specializing in hospice care. The couple founded the Sehr-Allen Charitable Foundation, which offers financial aid to terminally ill patients and their families.

The sale closed on Dec. 20, and was recorded Tuesday in Orange County. James is in the process of retiring while the couple relocates to Orlando, and the two will actively manage the foundation remotely.

The sellers were John J. Harned, Jr. and Tara Harned. John is the second-generation owner of Winter Haven-based Indian River Transport, a food-grade tank carrier that provides transportation services across the United States, and import/export between the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Following that sale, on Dec. 28 the Harneds paid $2.9 million for a new two-story custom home on Aviva Garden Court in Isleworth, less than a quarter mile northeast of their former home, with 6,598 square feet of conditioned area, three bedrooms and 4.5 baths.

The home was built last year and occupied for less than one month, based inside the gated Gardens of Isleworth, a custom-home enclave.

Inlaid wood and travertine tile floors, a custom fireplace, home theater, and sliding glass pocket doors that open to a large lanai and pool area are highlights of the home's first floor. The master suite features a private lounge, dual-side fireplace, his and her walk-in closets, soaking tub and indoor-outdoor walk-in shower.

The 0.26-acre lot features limited rear frontage on a retention pond, and lies less than a half mile from greens of the Isleworth Golf & Country Club.

The sellers there were James and Tara McCahill, who previously paid $762,500 in April 2014 for the then-vacant lot.
