A lakefront estate in Windermere’s Isleworth community, once home to film star Wesley Snipes, just sold for over $3.4 million.
The cinema star, best known for the “Blade” trilogy, bought the 1.16-acre property on the 9000 block of Deacon Court in 1993 for just a little more than $1 million.
He was a resident of the upscale suburb, which is intertwined with the Isleworth Golf & Country Club, for over a decade before he sold the property in foreclosure for $635,900 in 2004.
Around the time, Snipes was being charged with tax evasion and in 2008 was ultimately convicted of three misdemeanor counts of failing to file $15 million worth of federal income tax returns. He lost his appeal against conviction, and in December 2010 he was jailed and released in 2013.
According to a deed recently recorded in Orange County, Brenda Dykgraaf and her husband Jose Ignacio Monsalve Cadena sold the property to married couple, Dinesh and Seema Khanna.
Monica Lochmandy with Isleworth Realty LLC represented both sides of the deal.
“It’s one of those houses, when the moment you open the door, all you see is water,” she said. “[It] feels like you’re on the water.”
Records show Dykgraaf bought the home in 2006 for $2.7 million. She is a U.S. aerobics champion and president of the Windermere Exercise Company.
Lochmandy said the 30-year-old gated estate was “extensively updated” prior to the sale. The sellers added a new boat dock and fully repainted the interiors and exterior.
The seller “put her own stamp to it,” Lochmandy said.
The five-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom home spans about 8,400 feet — meaning the deal breaks down to about $406 per square foot. The property was on and off the market with different agents for several years, and in 2016 once asked for as high as $6.7 million.
The master bedroom features a private, screened lanai facing the lake with a dual-sided fireplace with the bathroom. And if one isn’t enough, the living room also has a fireplace that’s made of Italian marble.
The home consists of a family room, game room, and so-called “bonus room” with a built-in bar and private entrance. The property also contains a three-car garage, large summer kitchen and luxury open-air pool and spa.
Many business executives and celebrity athletes and actors have called Windermere home. The property next door was home to PGA golf champions Tiger Woods and Bubba Watson, at separate times.
Nearby, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is selling his lakefront 12-bedroom, 11-bathroom Windermere mansion for $16.5 million.
And according to another deed in Orange County, Patricio Cuesta, a recently appointed executive at Tupperware Brands Corp., spent $2.7 million for a house along Down Lakeview Circle in Windermere last month.
