Buffalo Bills wide receiver and Fort Myers native Sammy Watkins spent $539,700 last week for a new five-bedroom home under construction in Winter Garden.
Samuel B. Watkins IV closed the purchase on Dec. 23 from M/I Homes of Orlando, with the deed recorded Friday afternoon in Orange County.
Located in the 15000 block of Lake Claire Overlook Drive in the new Hickory Hammock community, the 3,843-square-foot, two-story home will include five bedrooms, four baths, and a three-car garage.

M/I Homes estimates on its website that the Glenwood-model home will be completed in April 2017. It is within walking distance of Johns Lake, and the Stoneybrook West Golf Club.
Watkins sourced a loan of $417,000 from M/I Financial LLC out of Columbus, Ohio, to help finance the purchase.
A first round draft pick of Buffalo in the 2014 NFL Draft, Watkins attended Clemson University for two years, and is a graduate of South Fort Myers High School.
In May 2014, Watkins helped his parents Samuel B. Watkins III and Sonya Cobb purchase a four-bedroom home for $273,000 in the Sawgrass Plantation community, southwest of Orlando International Airport.
