The president and chief operating officer of Lake Mary-based AssuredPartners, Inc., an independent insurance agency, recently paid $1.54 million for a 1.62-acre vacant lot on Preserve Point Drive in Winter Park.

Tom Riley told GrowthSpotter he bought the land because it’s next to a house he purchased in May for $5.65 million. Both lots are on Preserve Point Drive in the Windsong neighborhood, and abut Lake Virginia.

“I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with it,” Riley said. “I’m not going to build on it. I may put tennis courts or fountains and some landscaping. I’m going to get a landscape architect and figure out what they’re going to do. I have to figure out what my options are with the homeowners’ association.”

Riley and his wife, Mary Catherine, bought the land from Mikhail A. Kholodtsov and his wife, Larisa Odnoglazkova of Winter Park, according to a deed signed July 20 and recorded five days later in Orange County. Tatiana Kholodtsov of Watson Realty Corp. in Maitland represented the buyer and seller.

Kholodtsov and Odnoglazkova own Kraor Meat Inc., a retail meat and fish company with locations in Maitland, Orlando and Winter Park.

The five-bed, five-bath house Riley bought in May was built in 2006 and has 9,344 square feet of living space. The house is French provincial in style with extensive natural light from soaring ceilings, tall casement windows and French doors. In the evenings, sunset views of Rollins College and Knowles Chapel are visible across Lake Virginia.

Entertainment areas include a club room overlooking the pool and lake which serves as a game room, bar and theater with a 110-foot, drop-down screen.

Other features include a resort-style pool, cabana with full bath, summer kitchen and lanai with fireplace, all looking out toward the private boat dock with auto lift and boat cover.

Riley has also been listing another home for sale on Lake Mary's Bridgewater Drive at $2.4 million since June 13 with Armel Real Estate. The six-bedroom, seven-bath homes features 9,581 square feet of conditioned area, with features like a four-car garage, five fireplaces, downstairs game room, wine celler, theater room and more.

Assured Partners was founded in 2011 as a national partnership of leading property, casualty and employee benefits brokerage firms, according to its website. The company bills itself as the nation’s “fastest growing independent insurance agency.”
