Orlando developer files plans for new Disney-area hotel

Plans for a new 5-story hotel on Kissimmee’s W192 tourism corridor are moving forward.

Nizam Kahn, president of Orlando-based GO Construction Services, has filed a Site Development Plan with Osceola County for the 1.24-acre parcel on Reedy Creek Boulevard. The site is tucked between the Hawthorne Suites and Magic Development’s Magic Village Views, a Wyndham Trademark Collection resort. Guests on the upper floors will have views of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Kahn said.

Kahn and his brother, Ambarin Kahn, formed World Center Hotels and Resorts for the project, their first in the hospitality field. The plans call for a 98-key, limited-service hotel. Initially the brothers considered opening the asset as an independent, boutique hotel, but now they’re hoping to land an internationally recognized brand.

“We’re still shopping for flags,” Nizam Kahn told GrowthSpotter.

Jeff Gaither of Studio 407 is the architect. The site is the back lot and former tennis courts for the once-condemned Toscana Suites hotel just west of Disney’s All-Star Resort.

Long-time hotelier Mohammed Jumani bought the 390-room motel on Reedy Creek Boulevard in 2016 for $2.4 million cash and reopened the back portion as the Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham extended stay hotel in 2018. The renovation cost $8 million.

Kahn said he hopes to start construction on the new hotel in January and anticipates a 16-month construction period. He said the company will be looking for a hotel management company to operate the property.
