Highland Homes closed the deal last week for a new 22-acre community in Polk County’s town of Eagle Lake.

Highland Homes, a division of Clayton Properties, paid $1.78 million for the property that was fully entitled for 78 homes. Located on Bingham Road, the neighborhood will be called Landings at Eagle Lake and will consist of all 70-foot wide lots.

The sellers, David and Terry Puentes and developer David Waronker of CBD Real Estate Investment, took the project through permitting. Waronker told GrowthSpotter the homebuilder would be on site with in two weeks to start construction.

The project engineer is Craig Cornelison of Cornelison Engineers, Zephyrhills.

CBD is also behind a much larger project in Eagle Lake, a 1,160-lot residential subdivision called Ranches at Lake McLeod on Bomber Road. The company is under contract to buy 280 acres for the community, which will feature five “ranch” villages and a small commercial component.

Highland Homes, sold to Berkshire Hathaway last year, has several new communities in the pipeline in East Polk County, including the new Astonia community on Ernie Caldwell Boulevard. Highland will build 300 of the homes in the community of more than 1,000 homesites.
