Upscale senior living center coming to Casselberry

A planned senior living facility in Casselberry promises the very best for its residents.

A senior living facility that will offer a "resort" style of life is coming to Casselberry.

Allegro Senior Living will provide such amenities as formal dining, a spa and a pool.

The 183,000-square-foot facility will cost an estimated $40 million to build, with work expected to begin this fall and be complete the following fall. Subcontractors are being sought.

Allegro is the latest of over half a dozen assisted living sites to be announced in the Orlando area over the last several months. The region has a growing and aging population, which has developers feeling these types of projects make good business sense.

The only other luxury-type senior facility going up in the area is in Osceola County, in the city of Celebration.

J.P. Hurd, of Welbro Building Corp. of Maitland, the construction manager, said the need for upscale assisted living, independent living and memory care facilities like Allegro is only going to grow.

"We have people in places like Winter Park and Windermere that want to retire to a lifestyle they are used to," Hurd said. "Allegro is by a lake in a residential setting and will offer a resort style of life."

Allegro, which will have 154 units, will be located at Howell Branch and Lake Ann roads.

Rent will start at about $3,500 a month, with many residents using the proceeds of their home's sale to cover the cost.
