Chiropractor clinic chain planning major expansion in Greater Orlando

The Joint Chiropractic will be looking for Class-A retail space as it opens up to 15 new clinics in Greater Orlando.

The Joint Chiropractic is targeting the Orlando area for a major expansion with plans to open up to 15 new clinics in the market, a lead executive told GrowthSpotter.

"We're looking to be in every major trade area," regional brand developer Shane Weber said Wednesday.

The Arizona-based franchise entered Orlando in 2016 and currently has four clinics in operation with another set to open in Winter Garden. Weber said The Joint is eying numerous submarkets, including Altatmonte Springs, Lake Mary, Four Corners and Apopka.

"We work with a lot of developers on opportunities so we're always looking for great properties," Weber said. "We want to be in the focal point of the trade area -- the A-class retail shopping center anchored by a grocer."

Each Joint Chiropractic clinic welcomes walk-in patients, but the bulk of the revenue comes from package sales and monthly memberships.

The ideal location is a Publix-anchored shopping center with other wellness-themed service franchises, such as L.A. Fitness and Massage Envy. The optimal space ranges from 1,000 to 1,200 square feet.

"We're willing to pay a lot more in rent to be convenient to our customers," Weber said.

The Joint currently operates nearly 400 franchise locations, including 17 in Florida. Each clinic accepts walk-in patients, but the bulk of the business derives from a $69-per-month membership that includes four treatments. The clinics do not accept insurance, which reduces overhead costs.

"Our business model is built on convenience," Weber said. "Each location will have a chiropractor at all times. We stay open nights and weekends, so we always have someone there to treat you."
