Denver-based Tuff Shed pays $1.65M to enter Orlando market, plans factory

Denver-based Tuff Shed, a manufacturer of garages, storage buildings and custom commercial buildings, paid $1.65 million on Oct. 22 for a vacant warehouse property in east Orlando, and will redevelop it as a factory to serve the regional market.

Located at 8524 E. Colonial Dr., the 0.89-acre parcel currently has a 12,960-square-foot warehouse that was built in 2005 but is vacant due to a fire, according to county records. The land was previously bought in July 2013 for $350,000 by an LLC affiliate of George J. Janas.

National Sales Manager Adam Cooney said Tuesday that the new Orlando property will be utilized for a regional factory. Details on a development timeline for the project could not be confirmed, as multiple calls and e-mails to company executives were not returned Tuesday.

The company has more than 100 production and retail locations nationwide. Its lone production facility in Florida until now has been in Tampa, which has served orders from Greater Orlando, according to staff at that location. Tuff Shed also has an authorized dealer in Sarasota.
