Fast Park & Relax plans covered parking expansion north of OIA

Orlando Fast Park & Relax is preparing to expand its parking business footprint north of Orlando International Airport by more than 40 percent.

The company currently leases a 20.48-acre parcel at 7859 N. Frontage Road (McCoy Road), which holds 1,983 covered parking spots. It wants to add a neighboring 7 acres that are now vacant, and develop for an additional 837 covered spots.

"We're really busy and filling up every week, and when we do fill up we valet at no added charge," general manager Katy Weems told GrowthSpotter. "So that space will give us another (837) parking spots, and hopefully that will come in the next few months."

The company has a Master Plan and annexation request that will go before Orlando's Municipal Planning Board on Aug. 15.

The target property at 5309 McCoy Road was formerly home to Payless Car Rental, which vacated in early February. Fast Park has held a short-term lease on the site for overflow valet parking.

Weems said the company hopes to have demolition, paving and striping on the property done within the next 90 days, with construction for the entire area to be done by January 2018.

Orlando is the first Fast Park facility to have solar panels installed on its carports, and has complimentary electric vehicle charging stations.

CT Consultants is managing design and engineering for the project, and Hall Construction is the general contractor.
