Developer Mark A. Maciel of M. Maciel & Associates has two developments working in his home town of Winter Garden, with two sets of investors.
In downtown Winter Garden, Maciel has plans for a 0.08-acre parcel at 252 W. Plant St. to start building this Fall a 30,000-square-foot building with office, retail, and a restaurant, near the city's splash fountain.
The red brick building will be designed to look like it has been there for many years. Maciel's partners in the endeavor are Rodney Jolly and John Kirby, he said. Construction bidding for the work is ongoing now, and civil engineer on the project is Kirby Engineering.
For his second project, Maciel's affiliate Gardenia Plaza LLC, purchased the land on May 13 for $2.1 million from RREFII BHB IV-FL JEH LLC, an entity related to Rialto Capital Management, a company backed by Lennar that spent a lot of the post recession years reworking failed projects.
The 18.2-acre tract lies on S.R. 50, at 14120 W. Colonial Dr. in Winter Garden. The land has 875 feet fronting S.R. 50.
Gardenia Plaza is being designed for a medium box retail store with various retail/restaurant pads along W. Colonial Drive, Maciel said.
That too is expected to begin site preparation in the fall by D&D Construction, Maciel said.
Nick Burden and Darand Williams are investment partners with Maciel on that project.
Ike Cottle of Realty Capital is working to recruit tenants to the Gardenia shopping center.
