Unicorp National Developments has filed a request to add 75 parking spaces and a third floor to the parking garage currently permitted to be two floors tall.
The project has been through a number of iterations. It started out as a project dubbed "The Luxe" which included 172 high-end apartments. Later the residential component was eliminated altogether from the site plan, which was renamed Lakeside Crossing.
City staff has yet to weigh in on the proposed change; however a lack of parking in the area is a sensitive issue. Whittall's development across the street, which includes Trader Joe's on N. Orlando Avenue, has sparked complaints for lack of enough parking spaces to meet demand.
