Winter Garden City Commission took its first step toward a temporary moratorium on development along S.R. 429 in its city limits Thursday night, voting unanimously in favor of a provision meant to provide time to refine and finalize the city's vision for development along the Western Beltway.
Bids are being solicited to build the first phase of City Center West Orange, a $150-million, mixed-use development with nearly half a million square feet of space planned for 60 acres of lakefront land facing West Colonial Drive.
It's been more than six months since NorthPoint Development met with Ocoee city officials for a pre-application meeting to discuss bringing a distribution and logistics center to town near the Plant and Franklin Street exit on the 429 beltway. Since then, the project appears to have dropped off the radar.
